Community Advocates For Family & Youth (CAFY) CEO Arleen Joell Receives Woman Of The Year Award

Business and Professional Women of Maryland Celebrate National
Business Women’s Week®(Oct.17-21)

LARGO, MD – OCTOBER 19, 2016 – On Thursday, October 13th, Business and Professional Women of Maryland honored CAFY CEO, Arleen Joell, with their
prestigious Woman of the Year Award at the Southern Prince George’s Business and Professional Woman Dinner. The event kicked off National Business Women’s Week® which falls in Domestic Violence Awareness Month, both of which relate directly to Arleen and the mission of her non-profit.

Arleen shares, “In addition to the honor of being selected, I am proud that CAFY’s team is represented by 90% woman – woman who are passionate about helping the community and serving those in harm’s way. I am so proud of this award and that Southern Prince George’s County’s Business and Professional Women recognize the relevance that women play in the community and in business.”

The celebration of National Business Women’s Week® has helped to promote leadership roles for women and to increase opportunities for their advancement professionally and personally. Arleen Joell has been a leader in providing victim advocacy and support services, crisis intervention, and community education programs addressing violence and crime to Prince George’s County individuals, families, and communities as President and CEO of Community
Advocates for Family and Youth (CAFY) and Victim Services Project Manager for Prince George’s and City of Laurel Police Departments.

On October 25th, The Prince George’s County Council will be presenting proclamations to Arleen and the other honorees at the Council Administrative Building in Upper Marlboro, MD.

About CAFY

CAFY is a 501(c) (3) victim services organization that offers programs to help individuals, families and communities survive the trauma associated with crime and receive the help and healing they need and deserve. CAFY offers a range of services, in both English and Spanish, that address the cause and impact of violence and crime including:

  • Case management;
  • Individual & family trauma-focused counseling;
  • Weekly support groups for women, children, teens, and men;
  •  Court education for youth, parents and adults (Kiddie Court);
  • Court companionship;
  • Safe Transfer & Exchange Program;
