Community Service
Community service and outreach is a key part of CAFY, Inc. Each CAFY team member is required to participate in two community service projects each year, one of which must focus on Victim Rights, CAFY believes "Healing Happens" but only if communities are educated.
Community Service is easily accomplished because most members are eager to use their energy doing something positive for their communities. In 2010, our community service initiative is entitled, "Putting Children First" in safety, education, health, achievement and family life. This initiative, which originally focused on child victims, has a much more significant and far reaching initiative.
This initiative recognizes children, moms, dads, siblings and extended members of families are impacted by crime must heal when a crisis hits. Whether it is crime, runaway, poor school attendance, relationship violence, delinquency or safety — all of this hits close to home for all of us and with it we can have an impact in our own homes, in our communities and throughout the county.
We all know someone or we are the one that is regaining control, CAFY wants to help each other. With nearly 25 volunteers, 6 part-time staff, and a teen advocate group, our initiative has made some inroads on the lives of hundreds of children and their families throughout the entire county. Last year alone, we conducted 14 outreach all focused on educating over 350 families on available victim rights and services. All were offered in both English and Spanish. CAFY, Inc. distributed over 1500 pamphlets, gave away 250 bears to children and families. Our work was even featured most recently in the Gazette, El Pregonero, and El Tiempo.
Additionally the following organizations have partnered with us in allowing CAFY, Inc. access to their information, services or support to our clients and helped in connecting services to serve the entire family:
CAFY, Inc. is looking for other partners to help close the gap of services that happens when people are victims of crime.
